We are 2 weeks in…have you been doing 30 Day Shred at least 3 times a week. Hopefully you are feeling a little like this meme!

Doesn’t that feel great when things that were hard 2 weeks ago are feeling a little easier now. Our bodies are amazing and if you haven’t started yet or haven’t done it as frequently as you were hoping then change that now. Just think how good you will feel 2 weeks from now!

Time For A Check-in

So it is 11 days into our challenge, how is everyone doing? Did you curse Jillian’s name a few times and decide to call it quits. Or are you like me and still cursing her name but sticking with it? Haha, I seriously have a love hate relationship with that woman!

So how are you feeling about things? I have had days where I thought, oh wow, I am in better shape than I thought! And other days where I think I am in such bad shape that I might die before the 20 minutes is up…those days are definitely the ones where I am up at 5 with a 17 month old that thinks it’s time to be up. Ugh. On a side note…how do you get a toddler to not get up before 6:30 in the morning?!?!

I am enjoying this though, I like that I just have to make myself work out for 20 minutes. Some days…most days…I don’t want to do a thing but it is a little easier talking myself into it for just 20 minutes. And also knowing that some of my friends out there and doing this with me. So let me know how things are going?!?

Don’t pay attention to me in the video…and mute me…but Olivia is too cute so I had to share this super cute clip!

One thing that has made me happy is that Olivia loves it. She usually is upstairs playing with her dad so I can get my workout in but lately she has wanted to be down with me. The other day anytime I was on the floor either on my back or stomach she would come and sit on me and laugh hysterically. For some reason she thought it was funny! And when I was doing crunches she sat on my stomach and I thought ok, added resistance…and then she started bouncing up and down excitedly. Haha I had to stop because it hurt and because I was laughing too hard! I so badly want her to love her body and how strong it is and watching her watch me and love it makes me so happy! She also is in the “learning to jump” phase so she loves the parts where we jump rope. She also loves that I set my 3 pound weights out and she was even lifting them with me!

It definitely is harder to get a workout in when you have a cute little girl climbing all over you but that is just life. Life throws things at you to try and make life hard, make you quit what you have set out to do. But don’t give up, just push through it and make the best of it. Some days your workout may not be the best because you have a toddler climbing on you or you didn’t get enough sleep or just don’t have your heart in it. But do it any way. Any effort you put in still has you at least one step ahead of everyone else that just sat on their couch and didn’t do a thing. So keep at it! And for real, let me know how it is going for you!!

Don’t Make Me Do This Alone

So recently I told you about my favorite at home workout, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I told you about the challenge I am giving my self and asked you all to join me. So for those of you that are wanting to join me, the challenge starts tomorrow!

Here is a refresher…30 days, that’s it. Of course I hope you will all continue on with it longer than that but for 30 days we are testing her program out. Ideally we would do it 5 days a week but shoot for at least 3. 3 workouts a week, and each workout is only 20 minutes long…I KNOW you can find time for that!

Stay away from the scale during this challenge (and always stay away!!). Take your measurements, shoot a before and after photo or just gauge things by how your clothes are fitting. Whatever you think will help keep you motivated and let you see the changes you have made in 30 days. Do it, I promise you will be glad you kept track!

So let’s do this! Start tomorrow and get 3 workouts in a week. Monday November 14 will be our completion date and it will be here before you know it. Don’t wait until the new year to become more healthy, start right now! When November the 14th rolls around you don’t want to be wishing you had started with us. Now is the perfect time to be healthier!

I will check in with you along the way and make sure you are keeping tabs on me. Let’s do this, let’s be healthy!!

Muffelettes

I have seen things similar before but have never actually made them. We had Rob’s parents over for the day on Conference Sunday and I wanted to make a yummy but easy breakfast. These took me less than 10 minutes to put together and took about 18 minutes in the oven. Super fast and easy and super delicious!

Everyone loved them and Rob declared them Muffelettes! I even made some in the mini muffin tin and chopped the veggies super small and gave one to Olivia. She has been really liking scrambled or fried eggs lately but I wasn’t holding my breath. She took about two bites and then shoved the rest in her mouth. Mom win!

These are really versatile, you can add any veggies or meats that you want. Cheese or no cheese…but honestly, why wouldn’t you add cheese?!? They also freeze amazingly. Put them all in a gallon sized bag, pull one or two out and throw in the microwave for 30+ seconds and they taste just as good as when you first made them. They would be perfect for those crazy mornings when you are trying to get yourself or all your kids out the door on time. Warm them up and they make a great breakfast in the car! Let me know what you think of them!

Muffelettes
Makes 18-24

12 eggs
3/4 cup milk or cream or a combination
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1/4 cup diced red pepper
1/4 cup diced mushroom
1/2 cup diced broccoli
1/2 cup diced ham
Salt and pepper

Whisk together eggs, milk/cream, salt and pepper until combined.

Generously grease muffin tins. Put some of each of the remaining ingredients in all of the muffin tins. Pour the egg mixture on top and fill each tin up about halfway.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes, until eggs look set and tops are golden brown.

I let them cool for a couple of minutes and then popped them out to make sure they didn’t stick.

Eat warm or throw in the freezer to reheat later!

Jillian Michaels

I have a love hate with Jillian Michaels. Back when The Biggest Loser was a new show, I religiously watched the first couple of seasons. Although I watched it with a group of friends and we usually ate unhealthy food and lots of treats! For some reason that is what the show made me crave. Haha I know, weird huh? I always thought that Jillian Michaels was a little crazy intense…or a lot…but I still liked her. I thought, if she was my trainer I would show her just how tough I really was. Anyway…

I have had a handful of her workout DVDs over the years and have also tried others that friends/family have owned or workouts of hers that I found on YouTube. There are a lot of great ones and they all kicked (kick) my butt. There were things I liked about each one of them and things I didn’t but there has been one of her workouts that has stuck with me. I go back to it often. So tonight I wanted to share that one with you. 30 Day Shred. If you have this DVD, dust it off and get ready. If you don’t have it, go buy it! I happen to know you can find 30 Day Shred.

This honestly is my most favorite workout…as far as home workouts go. It’s short but it makes me break a sweat. Sometimes I think I might not make it through but I always feel like I got a good workout afterwards! It’s great because there are 3 workouts and each is only 20 minutes long. There is a two minute warm up and then three 6-minute cycles. Each cycle has 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. And each cycle is different in the workout and all three workouts are different. I love it because even when something seems extra hard that day I know I only have to do it for 30-60 minutes before she moves on to something else and that makes it a little easier to push through!

I think you are supposed to start with level 1 for a week or until it gets easy or something but I have never done that. I just rotate through all the workouts so that I am not doing the same thing day after day. I tried that when I first got it and I got too bored!

When I first got this years ago I decided to see if 30 days really made a difference. I didn’t workout on Sundays and I missed a couple of days throughout the month. But at the end of the month I could totally tell a difference! I even had a roommate comment on how nice my arms were and I have never had nice arms! So I have been feeling in a little bit of a rut lately so I dusted off Jillian and I am going to give her a try again.

So who wants to join me? I even took a before picture and did measurements this time…if I am feeling super brave maybe I will share them at the end. I am going to be totally realistic this time because my life is a little different than it was years ago. My goal is to do 30 Day Shred at least 3 times a week for a month and I am starting on October 15. Who is in? Who wants to test out her method with me? Come on people, I need someone to be accountable to! And I am giving you until October 15 so that you can find your copy or order one. You won’t be sorry I promise. And don’t think that it will be too hard. You can adapt moves or start out doing less than what she tells you to do or start without hand weights until you build up strength. So let me know here who is in. Please don’t make me do this alone! And really you will love this workout. Like I said, it’s my favorite and hopefully it will be yours too!
