I have a love hate with Jillian Michaels. Back when The Biggest Loser was a new show, I religiously watched the first couple of seasons. Although I watched it with a group of friends and we usually ate unhealthy food and lots of treats! For some reason that is what the show made me crave. Haha I know, weird huh? I always thought that Jillian Michaels was a little crazy intense…or a lot…but I still liked her. I thought, if she was my trainer I would show her just how tough I really was. Anyway…
I have had a handful of her workout DVDs over the years and have also tried others that friends/family have owned or workouts of hers that I found on YouTube. There are a lot of great ones and they all kicked (kick) my butt. There were things I liked about each one of them and things I didn’t but there has been one of her workouts that has stuck with me. I go back to it often. So tonight I wanted to share that one with you. 30 Day Shred. If you have this DVD, dust it off and get ready. If you don’t have it, go buy it! I happen to know you can find 30 Day Shred.
This honestly is my most favorite workout…as far as home workouts go. It’s short but it makes me break a sweat. Sometimes I think I might not make it through but I always feel like I got a good workout afterwards! It’s great because there are 3 workouts and each is only 20 minutes long. There is a two minute warm up and then three 6-minute cycles. Each cycle has 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. And each cycle is different in the workout and all three workouts are different. I love it because even when something seems extra hard that day I know I only have to do it for 30-60 minutes before she moves on to something else and that makes it a little easier to push through!
I think you are supposed to start with level 1 for a week or until it gets easy or something but I have never done that. I just rotate through all the workouts so that I am not doing the same thing day after day. I tried that when I first got it and I got too bored!
When I first got this years ago I decided to see if 30 days really made a difference. I didn’t workout on Sundays and I missed a couple of days throughout the month. But at the end of the month I could totally tell a difference! I even had a roommate comment on how nice my arms were and I have never had nice arms! So I have been feeling in a little bit of a rut lately so I dusted off Jillian and I am going to give her a try again.
So who wants to join me? I even took a before picture and did measurements this time…if I am feeling super brave maybe I will share them at the end. I am going to be totally realistic this time because my life is a little different than it was years ago. My goal is to do 30 Day Shred at least 3 times a week for a month and I am starting on October 15. Who is in? Who wants to test out her method with me? Come on people, I need someone to be accountable to! And I am giving you until October 15 so that you can find your copy or order one. You won’t be sorry I promise. And don’t think that it will be too hard. You can adapt moves or start out doing less than what she tells you to do or start without hand weights until you build up strength. So let me know here who is in. Please don’t make me do this alone! And really you will love this workout. Like I said, it’s my favorite and hopefully it will be yours too!
